The SWEET and VELVET TONE of MOHAMMED RAFI in the STUDIO is a MYSTERY. The ORIGINAL is FABULOUSLY SUNG by PLAYBACK SINGER: MOHAMMED RAFI: He OBSERVES the GOOD, BAD and UGLY of PEOPLE and SOCIETY and TRIES to WORK for RIGHTEOUS, but LIKE CHRIST, gangsters oppose his GOOD and throw him from a high gangway to a river where, being disabled, he drowns, but as a RIGHTEOUS MAN. The SONG has a SUFI THEME from the POINT of VIEW of a DISABLED STREET BOHEMIAN played by ACTOR: MAZHAR KHAN. I FEEL the ORCHESTRATION of the ORIGINAL is too BEAUTIFUL to ATTEMPT ELECTRONICALLY without VANDALISING the SONG, so DRUMS and VOICE was a BETTER TRIBUTE. I changed the song from 3/4 to 4/4 and used BHANGRA PUNJABI DRUMMING with SILENCES and CONTRASTS. KHAARTOUM SINGS ENGLISH SUBTITLED Indian film song: 'MY NAME IS ABDUL' from the 1980 HINDI FILM: 'SHAAN'/'PRIDE'.
